Sassy Text Shadows

This is mostly a bad idea.

Sassy Text Shadow is a Sass mixin that calculates convoluted curvy shadows for css3 text-shadow. It can also be used for box-shadow if you're into that kind of thing.

Sassy Text Shadows can be used as a Compass extension and can be installed as a Ruby gem.

Installation

Usage requires Sass and Compass. Visit sass-lang.com and compass-style.org to learn more and install.

gem install sassy-text-shadow

Then add require 'sassy-text-shadow' to your Compass config file.

Usage

Original (Wavy Shadows)

@function sassy-text-shadow($color, $iterations, $rad, $deg, $cos-i, $sin-i, $color-multiplier)

Once the gem is in place, simply call the sassy-text-shadow() function within the compass @include text-shadow mixin. Like so:

The arguments are, in order:

$color: the starting color of the shadow
$iterations: how many shadows to generate
$rad: the radius of the curve
$deg: how far around the curve to go
$cos-i: the multiplier for cos()
$sin-i: the multiplier for sin()
$color-multiplier: an amount to shift the hue of the color as it iterates

Long Shadows NEW

@function long-shadow($color: gray, $iterations: 100, $spread: 2px, $deg: 45)

This function produces long shadows at arbitrary angles.

The arguments are, in order:

$deg: the angle of the shadow
$color: the color of the shadow
$iterations: how many shadows to generate
$spread: how much blur to add
